JC,

I have used the latest build with the label migration patch and it is *great*. What VSSMIgrate does with the label patch is to take the time and date of a label and group the most recent revision of a project's files as a "tag" release from trunk.

So, if you've faithfully "LABEL"ed your VSS projects in their history, VSSMIgrate will create tag releases corresponding with each LABEL. In my tests so far as I've evaluated how we'll migrate VSS to SVN, I've moved three projects and have been delighted to see *every* labeled release migrated to the tags folder.

VSSMigrate is a dandy tool. I'm working to eliminate one final problem dealing with the creation of local files with folders not yet updated to SVN, causing some "not a working copy" errors, but hopefully solving that problem will put me on a final migration path!

This article is great, but it does not include how to do labels. A patch has been made to help migrate labels, but it is difficult to figure out how to use the patch. It would be great if you could update the article.

Here is the patch information: <a href="http://vssmigrate.codeplex.com/workitem/2079" rel="nofollow">Label Path</a>

@Jmac12 - That's weird. You would think that the script would either be able to do it completely, or not at all. I would delete anything inside the temp directory, make sure the NTFS/Share permissions are all correct, and then try it again.

If that doesn't work, see if you can find out what it stops on. Maybe it doesn't like the file/folder name somewhere? Maybe it doesn't like a specific character? Maybe you have a corrupt record?

@IT Tech I've not setup any user up for my SVN Repository and it seems to create some of the structure within my temp drive but then stops.

I’ve got my Repository on my c drive just a test (c:\subrepos) so I’ve put file:///C:/SubRepos
And I imported my files into it as cdm_project. But doesn’t seem to work

@Jmac12 - Make sure the SVN user you are using has R/W permissions in the SVN repository you are migrating to. Also, make sure you have R/W permssions in the temp directory you are using.

@IT Guy & Ukn742 Hi Guys

I'm the same as you two trying to get it to work with VSS 6.0,

But when i try and add the SSAPI.DLL i get the following message:"Please make sure that the file is accessibile and that is valid assembly or com componet". I am accessing on a machine that doesnt have source safe. But thought it was type of Library file that i can just add on? Thanks

Another discovery: appears the import lost my UTF-8 encoding - make sure you use a tool like Beyond Compare and compare full output from VSS and SVN.
